Health Equity Statement

SPWC is committed to address and prevent mental and behavioral health care gap for our underserved population regardless of their back ground including; race/ ethnicity, sexual orientation, gender identity, social status for school ages kids and their families. Our purpose is to establish a secure and supportive environment, enabling students and families to connect to one another without judgement, empower and advocate for their needs, thus promoting mental health recovery and self-wellness.

Biography

Sia's Place is a local nonprofit organization dedicated to proactively addressing the behavioral and mental health needs of our underserved community, starting with maternal health and wellness. We provide culturally tailored doula services for expecting mothers before, during, and after childbirth. Our no-cost clothing closet provides quality attire for the entire family year-round, complemented by our essential diaper pantry. We also deliver crucial Car Seat Safety classes to ensure proper car seat usage and eligibility. Additionally, our Mental Health First Aid training equips individuals to effectively support the mental health and substance use challenges faced by youth aged 12-18. At Sia's Place, we are committed to making a meaningful difference in the lives of those we serve.

Experience

We have a team of Doulas that speaks English, Spanish and Hmong. We are all trained through Dona International. Though this non profit is fairly new, we have have over 20 years of experience either working the the dept. of social services, over 10 years for working as liaisons in the public school system, 13 years working in the mental and behavior health realm, and 10 years as a community advocate and health navigator.
